The OpenCamp conference is being held later this month (August 27-29) in Addison Texas (close to Dallas).
From the people that brought you WordCamp Dallas and DrupalCamp Dallas, OpenCamp is the SouthWest’s first multi-platform web conference. With top speakers covering topics ranging from social media to technical development, content creation, revenue generation and more, webmasters and web developers, bloggers, podcasters and technologists on any platform are welcome.
OpenCamp has strong roots in the PHP community but also welcomes other technologies. In fact, a .NET track had been added to this year’s conference. The audience of this conference includes professional podcasters, bloggers, community managers, web site managers, etc.
My sessions
I will be attending as a speaker and representing Telerik & Sitefinity CMS. I have two sessions scheduled for this conference:
1. Introduction to Telerik’s Sitefinity CMS
Sitefinity CMS is a flexible ASP.NET-based content management platform that is used for the construction and management websites. Sitefinity CMS is engineered with flexibility and extensibility in mind. It gives web owners the freedom to adapt the system to their unique needs. In this session, Developer Evangelist Gabe Sumner will demonstrate how to create a brand new web site using Sitefinity and then add social features to the web site.
2. Signal to noise - Essential tips for discovering online conversations that you need to be part of
The Internet is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to the Internet. Locating conversations and content related to you in this rapidly growing and changing environment is daunting. Failure to find these conversations means failure to engage with your audience. This session examines techniques and tools for filtering the noise and discovering important conversations.
Signal to Noise
My “Signal to noise” session is new. The idea came from my Sitefinity evangelism efforts, as well as an internal project we’re pursuing at Telerik. If someone is talking about Sitefinity, I want to know. However, I want to avoid manually clicking through dozens of web sites each day. I want relevant conversations pushed to me, automatically. So how do I accomplish this?
I assume all of you also have brands (or identities) you want to monitor online; what are some of your personal strategies? After this session, I’ll turn my research into a blog post and post it to telnet80.
Join the conversation
If you’re in the Dallas area I would encourage you to attend. There will be a lot of great platform agnostic ideas for how to manage your online presence.
Also, Telerik did a giveaway for a handful of OpenCamp passes. This contest ran during the Sitefinity 4.0 BETA release (last week) and I failed to blog it. (Sorry!) The winners were selected earlier today and were announced by Shawn Weisfeld. Thanks to everyone who participated.
